Intriguing Visit to Hastings Museum and Art Gallery

On Friday 16th June a small group of 4 Artspace Studio Members and Volunteers (Sean, Suzi, Emily and Eleana) ventured over to the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery via St Leonard's on Sea to see their Lego exhibition as well as the Permanent Collection.

Emily liked the Lego exhibition. She enjoyed the humourous transcriptions of old film posters and Contemporary works of art very much. Especially their homage to "A Clockwork Orange."

Sean (who initiated the visit) said:

"The Hastings trip was very enjoyable. The Lego exhibition had lots of interesting stuff and fun ideas and different approaches. The Museum's Permanent Collection was also very varied and interesting.

I really enjoyed seeing the 'Jack of the Green' giant effigies, the collection of puppets and the recreations of natural environments with stuffed creatures.

Additionally, we discovered a little Gallery right next door to St Leonard's Warrior Square Train Station which had really great mixed media collage paintings. This was an unexpected surprise too!"

All in all a a successful day out. We felt that Hastings Museum and Art Gallery and the surrounding area is quirky, intriguing, interesting and well worth a visit.
