Artspace Art Making At Moulsecoomb Place!

Artspace were delighted to be invited to the new home of East Brighton Trust at Moulsecoomb Place, to make art inspired by the building and it's grounds. We took the opportunity to relax and let our creative juices flow at this wonderful building.

Once a summer retreat for the Prince Regent, it has a fascinating history. Beki (who works for the trust), made us feel very welcome and gave us a tour of the building to tell us the story of it.

Nestled under the lush trees some of us were inspired to draw the landscape. Others found the internal architectural features captivating, especially the huge fire place which warrants further historical and artistic investigation.

One of our members, Tessa, had this to say: “It was an amazing building dating from the 1600s, and and I really enjoyed the tour. One room in particular was very inspiring, with what we think was an early 18th century fireplace. The grounds were quiet and peaceful and a good area to sketch the building”. Tessa was also inspired to make a stained glass design based on the Manor house.

We hope this is the beginning of an important collaboration, and we plan to return to this wonderful site. Discover what’s happening at Moulsecoomb Place: www.eastbrightontrust.co.uk
