Artspace will be running a Christmas workshop at Bristol Estate Community Centre again on Saturday December 13th from 2 - 4pm, this year the theme will be making Christmas cards (or alternatively decorations) of ‘Birds Of Peace’.
Rather than the traditional white dove of peace, participants are encouraged to get as creative and colourful as they like, using mixed media collage (paper, cards, recycled christmas decorations, glue, paint, pens, glitter etc). No artistic experience is necessary and beginners are welcome! All materials will be provided, but you can bring along your own materials too.
The workshop is open to anyone on the Bristol Estate, and to all of our Artspace studio members. Artspace’s studio is also located on the Bristol Estate, and we are a part of the Bristol Estate Leaseholders and Tenants Association. We run on average 2 - 4 free workshops a year at Bristol Estate Community Centre, for individual residents and families. The aim is to help increase and access opportunities to be creative, lessen isolation, build community ties, and improve mental health for those on low income who may face barriers. It is also an opportunity for the community to learn more about artspace and the work that we do.
Last year’s Christmas Card workshop was a great success, very festive and fun, so much so that many participants expressed their enjoyment and that they would like for the workshop to run again this year, and in the future. See below for photos of last years workshop, and the great cards that participants made. Regular Christmas Cards are really nice to receive, but receiving something handmade with love is really special.
